We’re just socially interacting, innit
Not hating nor pontificating

Insinuating perhaps even implicating
Occasionally berating

But always articulating
Without aggravating or humiliating

Just relating

Relating

Participating

Oft times facilitating

Hopefully cultivating an educating and exhilarating
Illuminating and invigorating

Opportunity to debate

To generate thoughts and create a state of mind
Never blind to the fact that we

Each one of a kind
endure this

Grind

Time after time

Walking that
Line

So cruelly defined by fate

So why wait?

Come
Before it’s too late

Let’s
Start a debate.

Mark, I absolutely love it! I’m smiling from ear to ear. 🙂

This literary sparring/ sharing/ co-enlightening was a beautiful departure for me. Moreover, I wanted to give your words the attention that I believe they deserve. Thank you! I am honored. Your response was beautiful, but more importantly, those last four lines,

    “Not
A king to guide them, wise words to impress

    No
This time we see leading a mighty Empress”, provide just the confirmation that I needed as I rekindle the wick of why I write in the first place – to inspire, enlighten, and hopefully get others to find and express their most authentic voice.

    Blessings to you!

    Ha!

    I love it!

    Fellow writer
    Life artist
    Heart crooner
    Justice seeker

    I’m listening
    Attentively
    Passionately
    Ardently
    Authentically

Wanting to know what it is that
    Drives us to walk about
    Dance around
    Skip along
    Pretending that all is well

When in fact the writing is on the wall
    Worlds crumbling
    Like silence is golden
    Succumbing to a political correctness
    That holds us all hostage

    Every subject taboo
    Every emotion offended
Though it is only through this dialogue
    This reaching, this breaking…bread…barriers…ground
    That real healing is effected

    We avoid being affected
    Though awareness abounds
    In turn
    We become desensitized
    Distanced
    Deep into dispositions of melancholia
Some call it depression, even indifference

    Debates make mockery
Of our meaningful pleas and demands
Our cries become vanquished beneath mere chicaneries
The dialogue becomes the ineffectual, dissonant, din

    Breakthrough becomes
    Shattered by soundbites
    Devalued by media spin-sters
    Rescued instead only posthumously
    In obituaries and iconic reflection.

Where would you like to begin, my friend? 🙂 You started it. Just kidding!
But seriously, what I’m itching for is some real dialogue,
    some breaking bread,
    I mean, some mind-elevating,
    kindred-connecting,
    paradigm-shifting,
    personally challenging dialogue…sometimes.

    • So let’s break that bread :).

If you have the time, I have the time…

I’m not one who could ever be accused of being lost for my words. Nor ever incapable of making myself heard.

      So I sit, I watch – I listen.

      I observe.

Never one to be part of the crowd; sheep afraid to speak when they see all the wrongs; just closing their eyes and – going along.

      Appeasement. Social malfeasance.

      Instead I wait.

And then – as if by some fate, along comes a spirit with whom I relate.

      An empress at that.

Well I’ll be that damned cat.

Her words are the cream, creating our dream.

      Society. One of sobriety.

Where the words are her tools and ideas are the jewels that she crafts ever so slightly but oh so delightfully.

      She makes us all think.

      From her wisdom we drink.

And as she has stated the truths are debated. Whilst we sit here elated, collective breaths baited.

      We joyously sing.

      Debating begins.

      • Brilliant!

        And there she is

        Consciousness
        Streaming through every pore

        Enlightenment
        Waiting beyond the closed door

        Reality
        Never existed so clear

        Inspiration
The truth that brings us all here

        Humanity
        Standing together our ground

        Ideas
Exchanged freely as we gather around

        Hark!
As the thunder comes rolling on strong

        1,000,000
        Men marching proudly in song

        Not
A king to guide them, wise words to impress

        No
This time we see leading a mighty Empress.
